The Manager, Global Benefits & Absence Management will be responsible for providing expertise, advice and direction in International and Domestic benefits, absence & disability management related matters, including but not limited to plan design development, funding and administration. This position will also be responsible for providing support to Domestic and International business partners relative to acquisition and divestitures as well as severance events. This individual will assist in the development of recommendations relative to the Company? ongoing global benefit strategy, as well as to specific regional or country benefit plan designs and programs to ensure alignment with the stated strategy. The Manager, Global Benefits & Absence Management is also responsible for the evaluation and analysis of current programs to ensure that all plans remain market competitive, cost effective and employee-focused. This individual will develop and continue to refine a strategy for Global Pooling and Benefits Brokerage that ensures the Company has processes in place for effective benefit financing, brokerage and risk mitigation.
The Manager, Global Benefits & Absence Management will provide technical support (i.e., Subject Matter Expertise) to internal and external business partners, Operating Companies, Payroll and Finance in the interpretation, administration and communication of benefits programs as well as related business opportunities. This individual will manage the evaluation and selection of suppliers, consultants, auditors and other business partners, including the negotiation of fees and contracts. In addition, provide advice and support to internal business partners on a range of international benefits and leave of absence related matters such as plan design, funding, and competitive benchmark analysis and program renewals. This individual will be responsible for the development, implementation and management of severance approaches that are consistent with the Worldwide Severance Guidelines. This includes but is not limited to the development of recommendations to be used in obtaining Pension and Benefits Committee approval, negotiating severance approaches with Operating Companies, individuals and/or unions and work councils as well as ensuring approved severance formulas are properly applied in accordance with Company policy. The monitoring the competitive marketplace to ensure awareness of benefit and absence & disability management best practices, trends new developments and initiates. This includes analyzing such data and making recommendation to management, as well as other internal and external business partners as appropriate.
The Manager, Global Benefits & Absence Management will be responsible for the planning and management of large scale projects of significant complexity including major initiatives such as benefits harmonization within a country or region, acquisitions or divestitures and ensuring compliance in multiple countries in the event of a reduction in force. This individual will manage the Company? global multinational pooling program including but is not limited to conducting analysis of multinational pools, including multinational pooling reports and agreements, as well responsible for the development of recommendations for, and negotiation of, additional opportunities for multinational pooling. This shall include full financial modeling to estimate the benefits of pooling initiatives. This individual will also manage the Company? Global Broker Relationships, including but not limited to development and management of all global, regional and local deliverables as well as for recommendations for additional opportunities to leverage and expand the Global Broker arrangements. The Manager will be responsible for the management of the Company? Global Pension Umbrella program, including but not limited to coordinating and compiling pension calculations for expatriate employees, developing recommendations for improvement in program benefits and/or administration of expatriate pensions, as well as counseling expatriate employees regarding pension decisions arising at time of transfer and at retirement. This individual will manage and/or assist with annual audits and valuations, ensuring regulatory compliance by managing the maintenance of Plan Documents and Summary Plan Descriptions and manage internal controls (Sarbanes-Oxley) and internal audit process and manage reconciliation of financial statements, 5500 filings and other filings.
The Manager, Global Benefits & Absence Management will manage the Company? Global Benefits Administration System from a global perspective partnering with local and regional resourced to ensure implementation and ongoing management are aligned with Company? strategies and polices as well as have oversight and management of the Company? Benefits Global Benefits Data Warehouse, including ensuring that necessary data updates are made, conducting necessary analysis data to ensure integrity and overseeing the development of reports for global, regional and local resources as necessary. This individual provides management and oversight of the US Welfare Vendors, as well as the Puerto Rico and Canadian Health & Welfare Vendors as well as conducting technical analysis/research and plan interpretation to ensure full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies. The Manager will have responsibility for overall vendor management of global and regional third party vendors, including implementations as well as ongoing management of plans and programs to ensure compliance with contracts and program policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned.
A minimum of a Bachelor? Degree is required. A focused degree in HR, Accounting, Finance or another related Business field is preferred. A minimum of 10 years?experience with global Health & Welfare and Absence & Disability management programs is required. Relevant global benefit design experience, especially International Health & Welfare is required. Previous underwriting experience is required, preferably in health & welfare. Strong organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities are a must. It is required to have strong analytical ability and demonstrated problem solving skills. Attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Knowledge of MS Office is required.
It is required to have strong negotiation and facilitation skills. Highly developed organizational skills with ability to plan, organize and prioritize work as well as multi-task are required. Significant experience working on international projects and initiatives is required. Experience with implementing major design initiatives is required. Proven ability to work independently and complete projects with minimal supervision is a must. Knowledge of the relevant domestic and international regulatory environments is a plus. Knowledge of applicable country-specific practices and issues that are applicable to the effective design, implementation and administration of global benefits programs is required. It is required to have the ability to communicate at high levels with internal and external business partners.
This position is located in New Brunswick, NJ and may require up to 15% travel.
