Position SummaryThe Global Product Development and Supply (GPS) organization is going through an important evolution to enable more reliable and consistent delivery of medicines to patients faster.
This evolution includes elements that will help elevate its current operations to be best in class and differentiate as a competitive advantage for the future (e.
g.
BMS Quantum Leap ambitions).
As part of the evolution GPS needs to become a Digital First organization.
Digital First means leveraging the best of technology, data, analytics, business processes and people to achieve improved business outcomes.
The successful candidate will be a visionary leader who can inspire change, drive the transformation, manage complex business problems, break down barriers and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
The Executive Director will report to the VP, Digital Innovation, and be part of the Digital Innovation Leadership team.
Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for guiding and supporting our Digital First strategy to be deployed in Product Development, clinical and commercial manufacturing.
This includes:
Lead the Digital First components of People and Process for GPS Development and Launch Excellence (DLE), Accelerate Process Maturity (APM), Flexible Manufacturing (FM design initiativePartner with IT, Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T), Business Insights and Analytics (BIA) on Digital First components of Data, Analytics and Technology, and to the strategy and roadmap to scale Devens learnings to other sites across Operating Units (OpUs Biologics, Pharma, Cell Therapy)Partners with PD, CTD, BIA and IT to enable successful DLE executionServes as a connector across the different GPS Operating Units and functions, BIA, IT, HR and other enterprise partners to ensure consistency and remove roadblocks and barriers of Digital First implementationLead the development of a design thinking and user experience capability for GPS with initial focus on DLE, APM and FM areas, but plans for expansion across the broader Digital First Transformation landscapeLead the Digital Transformation ambassador team responsible for the PD, CTD, and Operating Units and drive new ways of working across OpUs, DLE, APM and FMPartners with BMS/GPS experts to emphasize design thinking and drive agile principles focused on delivery of minimal viable products (MVP)Partners with IT, BIA and Finance to align GPS Digital Investments in the GPS Strategy , ensuring a fail fast model with transparency on milestone achievement and financial transparencyAlign supporting processes to support agile ways of working (e.
g.
SCRUM) with Finance, PMO, etc.
Coach Executive level leaders on how to approach digital transformations and drive measurable business outcomesPartner with GPS functions to identify and close business process gaps in the intersections of the organization.
Gap examples include predictive asset maintenance and management across OpUs and PD; warehouse management global ownership across all OpUs; review by exception across all OpUs; weigh and dispense across all OpUs, etc.
Influence non-GPS supporting processes to support agile ways of working (IT, finance, IT PMO, etc.
)Work with VP Digital Innovation to build out the roadmap and broad-based business case supporting the transformationProvides perspective on best in class digital capabilities that can be adapted and leveraged by the organization with an eye towards operational excellence and efficiencyMeasure and report on the effectiveness of digital initiatives, using data analytics and other techniques to drive continuous improvement and optimization.
Build out a design thinking capability focused on user experience in support of the initiatives and the broader GPS Digital TransformationMeasurable outcomesProcesses transformed to be digital first and delivering articulated business case Baseline target being defined Achievement of timeline / productivity / cost targets for DLE, APM designs Targets identified Achievement of Digital Lighthouse designationDelivery of Design Thinking capability and structure in support of Digital Transformation Baseline target being defined RequirementsEnthusiasm and energy to help transform organizations, with tenacity/perseverance for leading changeDemonstrated ability to scan the external landscape for digital innovations/opportunities and incorporate such capabilitiesBachelor s degree required in engineering, business, data science or information systems with a Masters or MBA preferred.
Over 15 years of experience in the digital space (technology, data, analytics, process redesign)Proven track record of driving innovation and growth through digital transformation, using design thinking, rapid prototyping, agile methodologies (e.
g.
Scrum) and other innovation methodologies.
Demonstrated ability to manage, govern and create partnerships across multi-faceted initiatives.
Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to experiment, take risks and work across the matrix.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in digital transformation, and the ability to apply that knowledge to drive innovation within the company.
