The primary focus of the Environmental Health & Safety Manager is to support Bristol Myers Squibb's New Brunswick facility within the Department of Environmental, Occupational Health, Safety and Sustainability (EOHSS).
The position will support the development, planning, organization, and execution of strategies to maintain a safe, health, and environmental compliant facility.
The Manager of EHS for the NBR site will report to the Associate Director of EHS and coordinate, implement, assess, and improve environmental, safety, occupational health, sustainability outcomes using global and local regulations and consensus guides, BMS management systems, policies, and procedures to promote compliant, forward-leaning culture and preserve BMS reputation while driving shared Company objectives.
Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Implements/ Improves new and existing EHS programs to meet compliance with federal, cantonal, and local environmental, safety, medical surveillance and sustainability laws, regulations, codes, rules, and consensus guides.
Ability to apply EHS regulatory program requirements in a manufacturing setting.
Accountable for EHS regulatory preparedness and building rapport and trust through external agency and internal stakeholders interactions.
Provides technical acumen and oversight to all EHS programs and activities on-site for high-risk work including but not limited to, working from heights, electrical safety, laser and radiation safety, hot work, line breaking, lock out tag out, safe work permits, laboratory safety, mechanical integrity, and contractor safety.
Participates and supports EHS operational and tier discussions, EHS committees and teams; and EHS self-assessments and audits.
Identifies and solutions to eliminate unplanned events including spills, workplace injuries, accidents, and adverse health effects.
Responsible for using EHS platforms including modules for investigation, inspection, compliance, and occupational safety Executes recordkeeping/reports at national, state, province level as well as within BMS stipulated structures and timing.
Brings new approaches to continually improve the effectiveness of workflows and processes and learn and apply new concepts Helps to coach and mentor EHS Team members during day-to-day operations.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements Minimum education of a Bachelors' degree in environmental, physical sciences, or engineering Minimum of four (4) years of direct Environmental, Health & Safety experience in manufacturing or pharmaceutical space.
Prefer candidates with a six-sigma certification (green belt or above).
Experience with Construction Safety, laser safety, working at heights, preferred Working knowledge of applicable Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Knowledge and experience with the design and execution of emergency response programs, risk assessments, JHAs, and pre task planning Proven track record of implementing safety related programs and EHS project management in a manufacturing setting Strong Incident Investigation and Corrective and Preventative Action skill set Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint; aptitude and demonstrated proficiency for EHS specific systems such as ENABLON, Enfos, Enhesa.
